April 1st

The day she was born.

Alice April Meadows – born on April 1, 2025, at 6:09 PM. Weighing 337 grams and measuring 24.5 cm long.

Alice beheld Jesus on April 1, 2025, at 6:42 PM. Thirty-three minutes of life. 33.

My week with Alice — the first week of April — was all I got. One week with her precious body before her funeral. One week of holding her close and memorizing her perfect face before I had to say, “I’ll see you soon.” One life-altering week of inexpressible sorrow and gratitude. A week with my beautiful baby girl.

One week was not enough, so I re-live that week each week. To Alice’s mama (me), every Tuesday is April 1st.

I miss my little girl. I’d like you to miss her too. To know her enough to miss her.

So, I decided to share a bit of what I know about Alice, so that you can too know her and love her and miss her and talk about her — because she’s real.

And, I believe, she’s still alive. She lives just behind the thin veil that divides Heaven and earth. And the veil will soon be lifted. Come, Lord Jesus.

“For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him.” Luke 20:38

Born in April, the month of resurrection, she reminds us that, “Everything sad will come untrue” (Revelation 21:4).
